The Wireless Communications Device Safety Course is approved by the Florida Department of Highway Safety Motor Vehicles (DMV), designed for drivers who elected to, or have been court ordered, pursuant to Florida Statutes Section 316.306(4)(a). This program will educate drivers who were cited for using a wireless device while in a school crossing, school zone or work zone, of the dangers of operating a motor vehicle while using a wireless mobile device.
If you were cited for a first offense in violation of Florida Statutes 316.306(4)(a), you may elect to participate in a Wireless Communications Device Safety Course. Upon completion of such a program, the penalty specified in Florida Statues 318.18 and associated costs may be waived by the clerk of the court, and the assessment of points MUST be waived.
If a court, judge or magistrate ordered you to take a Wireless Communications Device Safety Course, this would also be the course for you.

The course is approximately 90 minutes as required by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DMV).
It has been designed for use on any mobile device, tablet, laptop or desktop. You can start on one device, and finish on another device. Your progress will be saved as you go automatically, so you can always resume where you left off.
There will be a 20 question quiz at the end of the course, based on the information you learned. The state requires a score of 80% or higher to pass. You can take the quiz as many times as needed to receive a passing score, however most students pass on the first attempt! The questions will all be true and false, or multiple choice.
Why would you need to take a Wireless Communications Device Safety Course?
There are two reasons, an election or have been court ordered:
- Election - A citation was received for using a wireless communication device and you have elected to take a Florida Wireless Communications Device Safety Course.
- Court Ordered - A court, judge or magistrate has ordered you to take a Wireless Communications Device Safety Course.
What happens once the course is completed?
The course completion will automatically be reported to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DMV) and electronically filed with the Clerk of the Court.
The course completion will be submitted into the Florida Courts E-Filing Portal which gets filed with the clerk of the court of the county where the citation was issued.
The Certificate of Completion will also be emailed to you immediately, and available to download from your account. The certificate can be used to provide proof of completion.
